Lake Shore Electric was started in 1982 by Bill Ross. Bill built the business with his son, Bill Jr. in mind to start a family-oriented design build electrical contracting business when Bill Jr. graduated from high school. Since then, all members of the Ross family have been involved, with final member of the family, Bill Sr's daughter Shelley coming onboard in 1998 to take over the financial duties from their mom Linda. In between the early 80's to late 90's Lake Shore Electric did a multitude of projects from cold storage, packing lines, commercial office buildings, retail and warehouses. By the 2000's Lake Shore started into the dairy industry and eventually into other agricultural projects for the wine, blueberry, apple and cherry industries.
James Beckett joined Lake Shore Electric in 2001, developing his skills as an electrician, learning the field work and then becoming foreman. As foreman he would take on project management, including site supervision and project estimates for customers. In 2025, James Beckett and his wife Manda purchased Lake Shore Electric from Bill and his sister Shelly. The Becketts are continuing the tradition set by the Ross family, with James serving as the President and Operations Manager and Manda serving as the Finance Manager and Treasurer of Lake Shore Electric. They are looking forward to continuing the values and service provided from Lake Shore Electric as a family-owned business. Bill and Shelley still provide support to Lake Shore Electric sharing their knowledge and expertise.
